Our Origin

In 1946, Productos Metálicos Limitada was founded in Medellín by Ricardo Correa and Santiago Santamaría—an enterprise built on hard work, vision, and the purpose of creating a better future.

Evolution and Name Consolidation

In 1948, as a natural part of the company’s growth, the business name was updated to Correa y Santamaría, reflecting a stronger identity aligned with its formalization process. This change strengthened the company’s projection and marked an important step toward what would later become Corsan.

Expansion and Consolidation

During the 1950s, the company positioned itself as a reliable substitute for imports and strengthened relationships with merchants and wholesalers across different regions of the country. It was a decade marked by stability, growth, and national consolidation.

Evolution and New Business Structure

The 1960s brought significant structural changes and an update to the business name, giving rise to Industrias Metálicas Corsan Ltda. This milestone marked a decisive step toward modernization and business expansion.

Professionalization and Modernization

In this decade, the company incorporated its first professional management team and began investing in new technologies and infrastructure. The Itagüí property was acquired, and the first wire-drawing line was installed, marking the beginning of an era of industrial modernization.

Relocation and Industrial Growth

The company moved its operations to the Itagüí plant, which remains Corsan’s productive hub today. With more space and improved capabilities, more efficient processes were developed and new wire-drawing technologies were implemented.

By the late 1980s, specialized machinery for fasteners was incorporated, and the steel product portfolio expanded. This diversification positioned Corsan as a comprehensive supplier for multiple sectors.
